Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov met with the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Ms. Larysa Galadza. The parties discussed cooperation in the field of healthcare, as well as the implementation of health care reform in Ukraine. In particular, the Minister of Health noted that in the context of reforming the Ukrainian medical system, one of the main priorities of the Ministry's team is to prevent the dismissal of doctors and the closure of medical facilities.
"Our current objective is to combine the needs of patients, doctors and efficient spending. And the Ministry of Health is actively working on that now. I have enough strength and political will to complete the medical reform while avoiding mass layoffs and closures of medical institutions," said Maxym Stepanov.
According to the Minister of Health, the tariffs for medical services should be fair - that is cover all the costs for the treatment of the patient, not just part.
"Currently, the rate of myocardial infarction, for example, includes only one stent. And sometimes two are necessary, as an example. And the same situation occurs at almost all tariffs. Our position is as follows: tariffs should be fair and reasonable," added Minister Maxym Stepanov.
For her part, the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Ms. Larysa Galadza assured of the readiness to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine in the field of medicine.
"Regarding reforms, first of all, I want to thank you for meeting with my colleagues from the G7. It is clear that a system of change requires strong leadership. That is why I was especially pleased to hear from you that many medical processes that were previously frozen have been launched now," said Ms. Larysa Galadza.
It should be noted, on May 5 the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxym Stepanov declared, that the Ministry of Health begins to fulfill the order of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on updating of the health care reform.
