The European Union disburses a second tranche of € 54 million to support the Energy Efficiency Fund. This funding is added to the first tranche of € 50 million, which in June Ukraine already received from the EU to ensure the operation of the Fund. This is a testimony of the high trust of our European partners and the progress of an energy efficiency reform that we have been implementing for three years in compliance with European energy efficiency directives. This is the first large-scale project of cooperation with the EU in the region. Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko commented the signing today in Brussels of the relevant financial Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the European Commission.

The Agreement on financing the facility EE4U-II. Energy Efficiency Support Program for Ukraine was signed during the 5th meeting of the Association Council between Ukraine and the EU by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko and European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.

Funds will be transferred to the Multi-Donor Fund managed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

"The EU support is aimed at implementing programs within the framework of the Energy Efficiency Fund. This includes the grants for condominium associations for energy efficiency measures, technical support for condominium associations in preparing applications for the Fund. We have also agreed on the assistance of our German partners in the preparation of energy auditors, who will work in all regions of Ukraine", said Hennadii Zubko.

He emphasized that Ukraine and the European Union will continue to cooperate in implementing energy efficiency reform, drafting of the statutory instruments, as well as in the area of efficient generation, production, transportation, distribution and use of energy.

It should be reminded, earlier, the European Union, together with Germany and IFC, signed an Agreement on co-financing the Energy Efficiency Fund on April 22, the establishment of the Multi-Donor Fund, and in June Ukraine received the first tranche of € 50 million. Funds are directed for the technical assistance of the Fund and directly to finance the projects. In the State Budget of Ukraine for 2019, the sum worth ₴ 1.6 bln is planned to support the Energy Efficiency Fund.
