Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Natalka Cmoc.
The parties discussed ways to deepen cooperation to strengthen the energy security of Ukraine and Europe, as well as to weaken russian influence on global energy markets.
German Galushchenko briefed the Ambassador on the situation in the Ukrainian fuel and energy sector in light of the ongoing hostile attacks on energy infrastructure.
“No energy system in the world has faced the challenges that we have. But we still have electricity, we still have heat. Our power engineers are doing everything they can to keep the system stable despite the constant attacks,” the Minister said.
The parties discussed deepening cooperation to ensure the resilience of the Ukrainian energy system and the energy security of Europe as a whole, in particular by developing cooperation with Canadian energy companies and using alternative energy supply routes.
Particular attention was paid to the need to strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s energy facilities, as well as to the issues of cooperation within the G7+ to continue support for Ukraine’s energy sector.
