Wages for Ukrainian teachers that has grown by 75% over the past two years should be upgraded to a market level. This will allow motivating educators to work in Ukraine and raise the educational level of children and youth in our country in schools with national curriculum and the mother tongue. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman while visiting secondary school No. 10 in Uzhgorod. The Head of Government is on a working trip to Zakarpattya region.

"We have upped the salary by 75%, but this is insufficient. In Zakarpattya region the teacher vacancy rate is over 1600 positions. Many teachers work abroad, so teachers' incomes, especially in the border areas, should be competitive as compared with colleagues from neighboring countries. In the medium term it is vital to improve the salaries of Ukrainian educators to make them competitive on the market", the Head of Government stressed.

Volodymyr Groysman added that Ukraine was undergoing difficult transformation. "It is a challenge for us, but we will prolong our activities to make Ukraine successful", the PM noted.

In this regard, he touched upon the language topic and reminded that in Ukraine the languages of all minorities are respected, but Ukrainian is the official language. And being the citizens of Ukraine, we must master it. And the state, for its part, should ensure conditions for learning: both at the pedagogical level and at the level of public broadcasting services.
