Ukraine will become a pillar of the new security architecture in Europe and the world. This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba on Monday, 4 September, during a meeting with students and teachers of the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
The Minister noted that despite the difficult path to victory, the vision of a new Ukraine, the world and military diplomacy must be formed today.
“In 2022, we not only returned more than half of the territories seized by russia. The fire of the war also burned the bridges to the past. It burned our inferiority and victim complex, as well as the word ‘impossible’, which is no longer in our diplomatic vocabulary,” said Dmytro Kuleba.
The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that for many years russia had been systematically trying to fragment international relations: “The plan was simple: to sow chaos and destabilisation in order to increase its influence and present itself as an alternative pole of world politics. But the fragmentation of international relations that russia was so eager to achieve has begun to backfire.”
According to the Minister, over the past year and a half, Ukraine’s military diplomacy has developed a new level of skill in interacting with communities and societies around the world. Ukraine’s victory in this war will mean the fall of russia as an idea of aggression and enslavement.
“The war has forced us to sometimes act against tradition, to break the rules and to find non-standard solutions to problems that no other country has faced in recent history. The key task now is to turn the know-how of Ukrainian military diplomacy into a system. Ukraine will become a pillar of the new security architecture in Europe and the world,” the Minister said.
Dmytro Kuleba noted that the key tasks on this path were to ensure Ukraine’s full membership in the EU and NATO and to open new horizons in relations with countries in Africa, Asia and South America.
The Minister also announced the introduction of a scholarship for the best masters of the Institute of International Relations for solving real diplomatic cases.
