  • Prime Minister: Government allocated UAH 185 mln to victims of fires in Luhansk region

    Following an extraordinary sitting on October 13, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine endorsed a decision to allocate UAH 185 million from the reserve fund of the State Budget to provide financial assistance to victims of fires in Luhansk region.

    Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stressed that families of the deceased will receive a sum UAH 200,000, UAH 50,000 is expected to be allocated to each victim who received severe injuries, UAH 30,000 to those who received moderate injuries, and UAH 20,000 for minor injuries.

    "Those people whose housing was destroyed will receive UAH 300,000 per family and UAH 50,000 per family will be allocated for partial repairs," the PM said, adding that Regional State Administrations will disburse additional assistance to the victims of the fires.

    Denys Shmyhal emphasized hat during a working trip to Luhansk region on October 2, the responsible government agencies were commissioned to shortly assess the damage from the emergency, so that people could receive assistance in rebuilding or buying housing as soon as possible.

    "Only on October 10, the personnel of the State Emergency Service, who arrived in Luhansk region from different regions, wrapped up the work. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the services involved in the liquidation of this emergency situation for their monumental efforts,"  the Head of Government said.

    Apart from that, the Government approved a decision to disburse funds from the reserve fund of the State Budget to the State Emergency Service. According to the Prime Minister, this decision will allow to restore the resources of the State Emergency Service, lost during the firefighting in Luhansk region.
