In April, the general fund of the state budget received almost UAH 275 billion, and since the beginning of the year - over UAH 856 billion in taxes, fees, excise duties, and customs duties. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a Cabinet of Ministers sitting on May 6.
“Despite all the difficulties caused by the full-scale war, the Ukrainian economy continues its gradual recovery,” the Head of Government emphasized adding that every hryvnia collected domestically is used for the defense of our country.
"At the expense of domestic resources we pay salaries to the military, buy weapons, provide the army with ammunition, food, and medicines. This year, we will spend 26% of the country's GDP on the defense and security sector. Thus, everyone who pays taxes contributes to our resilience and brings a just peace closer," emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, the budget deficit is covered by international support from partners and domestic borrowing.
“It is important that the entire need for external financing for this year - more than USD 39 billion - is fully covered,” the Prime Minister stressed.
