  • UK Defence Secretary on frontline in eastern Ukraine: I am impressed with courage and bravery of Ukrainian soldiers

    Within the framework of the visit to Ukraine,  the UK delegation led by UK Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson  accompanied by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for European  Integration Lieutenant General Anatolii Petrenko has travelled  to eastern Ukraine.

    Commander of Joint Forces Lieutenant General  Serhii Nayev thanked the UK for assistance provided to Ukraine and  briefed on situation in the region and along the state border of Ukraine with the aggressor state, informed about the facts of use of the  Russian weaponry.

    General Nayev also spoke about tasks accomplished  by the Joint Forces. The parties focused on discussion of the  humanitarian initiatives of the Joint Forces leaders and commanders.

    Moreover, Secretary Williamson met with soldiers of the Joint Forces and was impressed with their courage and bravery. Besides, he travelled to one entry-exit checkpoint in the region on the demarcation line.

    At the end of this travel, Gavin Williamson pledged the UK would support and assist Ukraine in the future.
