State Reserves Management Agency of Ukraine officially kicks off its operations
The Government has given the green light for the State Reserves Management Agency of Ukraine (SRMAU) to start operating as a central executive body.
Its activities are directed and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine through the First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy, and its main task is to implement the state policy in the field of state reserves.
The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a decision authorizing the Agency to perform the functions and powers stipulated by the Law of Ukraine “On State Reserves” and the Agency's Regulation.
The SRMAU shall form a state reserve of material assets necessary for the country and the population to respond promptly to the challenges of today.
The SRMAU is also responsible for state supervision (control) over the formation, storage, replenishment and distribution of state reserves.
"The SRMAU is a new institution created from scratch, which takes into account the current realities and needs of society, and is not influenced by the old Soviet system. The functioning of the SRMAU is aimed at transparent and effective management of the state material reserve and its control. This is an important tool for the state to accumulate the necessary state resources in time for a quick response to crisis situations, in particular during war or other emergencies," said Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Vitalii Kindrativ.
The SRMAU has already taken the main necessary organizational steps:
- has been registered in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities;
- approved the Regulations on the State Reserves Management Agency of Ukraine, its structure and the staff list;
- 20 civil servants have been appointed, which is 30% of the SAMRU's staff vacancies.
The SRMAU shall be financed from the budget for 2025.
