Denys Shmyhal takes part in events marking Ukrainian Statehood Day
On 15 July, events commemorating Ukrainian Statehood Day and the Day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus-Ukraine took place in Kyiv, attended by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also participated in the ceremonies.
Among those present were the Prime Minister of Latvia, Evika Siliņa, the Special Representative of the U.S. President, Keith Kellogg, representatives of the diplomatic corps, government officials, parliamentarians, military leadership, heads of Ukrainian churches, religious organisations, and chaplains.
“Without Ukraine, without the battles won here, without legendary figures, without the contributions of our people and the ties of many countries with Ukraine, it is simply impossible to imagine a complete and honest history of Europe. When freedom and humanity prevailed here, it changed the lives of other European peoples for the better, while in those difficult times when cruel empires dominated here, it ultimately brought pain to millions of Europeans,” said the President.
In turn, the Prime Minister noted that it was in Kyiv where the pivotal moment in forming the cultural and spiritual foundation of our state began.
“We are grateful to everyone who has created, fought for, defended, and developed Ukraine. Ukraine was, is, and will always be,” emphasised Denys Shmyhal.
