In 7 months of 2023, Ukrainians received more than UAH 265 billion in social payments from the state budget. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a Government session.

According to the Head of Government, these include pensions, payments to people in difficult life circumstances, assistance to the poor, benefits and subsidies, family support and social protection for people with disabilities.

The Prime Minister also highlighted support for people whose homes were damaged by flooding after the russians blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.

“Residents of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions have received almost UAH 52 million in compensation. The Government has extended the deadline for applications for financial assistance until the end of October so that everyone could benefit from it,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government noted that the Government continued to develop a new philosophy of social policy in three areas.

“The first area is high-quality registers. Currently, we are actively implementing the Register of Social Service Providers and Recipients and creating a corresponding dashboard. This will reduce bureaucracy and unify the process of providing various types of social support. The second area is the principle of ‘money follows the person’. This means that we pay money for a specific service provided to a person. This makes the use of budget funds more efficient and improves the quality of all services. The third area is digitalisation. Out of 30 types of social benefits and services, eight have already been digitised, while the rest are being prepared for digitisation,” the Prime Minister said.
