As part of the preparation and holding of events in connection with the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor tragedy of 1932-1933, a meeting of the Organising Committee was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
The members of the Organising Committee identified priorities for the implementation of the corresponding Action Plan for 2023.
“The soviet authorities launched a genocide against the Ukrainians by provoking a severe famine in 1932-1933, and russia continued this policy by launching an unprovoked war. That is why the Holodomor should become one of the leading themes of Ukrainian cultural diplomacy,” the Head of Government said.
Denys Shmyhal thanked more than 30 countries and international organisations that had recognised the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people and stressed the need to continue with such decisions. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was tasked with intensifying work with partners to prepare relevant resolutions and statements.
Following the meeting of the Organising Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, and others were given a number of instructions and tasks to implement the Action Plan for 2023.
