The Government continues to effectively cooperate with its European allies to strengthen Ukraine's defence capability and start the reconstruction process. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a Government meeting on 28 April. He summed up the results of the Government delegation's visit to Italy.
"A grand Recovery Conference was held at the initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with the participation of more than 500 Italian companies. They are interested in investing in Ukraine. Six memorandums of cooperation in the fields of ecology, industry, logistics, and energy were signed at the Conference. Kyiv and Kharkiv regions agreed on patronage with Italian partner regions," the Head of Government said.
The Prime Minister also said that Ukraine and Italy had agreed on EUR 1 billion of financing for recovery projects from the Italian Export Credit Agency (SACE).
"We have determined the prospects for cooperation in the defence industry. In particular, the production of air defence system components to counter enemy drones. We look forward to the speedy transfer of weapons to Ukraine, which is part of the sixth package of Italian military and technical assistance," said Denys Shmyhal.
In Italy, the Government team also discussed ways to implement the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As the Prime Minister stressed, Ukraine witnessed Italy's strong support for its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Denys Shmyhal also said that the Italian Parliament would soon consider a bill recognising the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
