  • Denys Shmyhal held talks with members of newly elected U.S. Congress

    On February 8, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online meeting with members of the newly elected United States Congress. The Ukrainian side was also represented by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, and Sergii Marchenko, Minister of Finance of Ukraine.

    The parties discussed a wide range of issues, including financial support, the restoration of Ukraine, a special tribunal to bring senior russian officials to justice for their crimes, and strengthening of sanctions.

    "Ukraine greatly appreciates the assistance provided by our partners at a time when Ukrainians continue to fight and defend their land from russian aggression. I am convinced that Ukraine can continue to rely on the strong support of the U.S. Congress," Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

    The Prime Minister thanked the U.S. Congress for allocating more than USD 13 billion for 2023 for economic and budgetary support for Ukraine. At the same time, Denys Shmyhal emphasized the need to strengthen sanctions against russia, in particular russian nuclear sphere.
