Denys Shmyhal held an online conversation with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online conversation with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

The head of the Ministry of Energy thanked the IAEA for the continued support for Ukraine and the work of the Agency’s experts at Ukrainian energy facilities.

“A week ago, the IAEA completed its eighth special mission to 13 electrical substations whose stable operation is essential for maintaining nuclear and radiation safety. We count on the continued presence of IAEA missions at our facilities,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

He also expressed special gratitude to the IAEA for implementing initiatives to support Ukrainian nuclear energy workers and their families.

In addition, during the meeting the parties discussed further coordination of efforts to ensure an independent assessment of risks and the condition of critical energy infrastructure, as well as to develop additional measures to strengthen Ukraine’s nuclear safety.
