Denys Shmyhal chairs regular meeting of the Energy Crisis Management Headquarters
A meeting of the Crisis Management Headquarters for the Elimination of Consequences of the Energy Emergency was held under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
The key issue was preparations for the upcoming fall-winter period.
During the meeting, reports were heard from energy companies regarding the readiness of power facilities for winter. The main focus was on carrying out scheduled and emergency repairs.
“Our strategic goal is to restore 6 GW of capacity before the start of the heating season. In particular, the restoration plan for thermal power plants amounts to 3.8 GW. We already have the first concrete results: so far, we have managed to restore 1 GW of capacity. We need to increase the pace,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
The meeting participants paid special attention to strengthening the protection of energy infrastructure. Work is ongoing both at power generation facilities in the capital and at substations of the National Power Company Ukrenergo. Denys Shmyhal instructed that a clear work schedule be developed for each facility to ensure adherence to deadlines.
The issue of protecting gas infrastructure facilities was also discussed separately. The Minister of Energy noted that a stable gas supply is the basis for the operation of distributed generation, in particular.
In addition, active cooperation with international partners is ongoing. In particular, an audit of expenditures within the framework of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund was conducted to ensure the effective use of resources and equipment.
Denys Shmyhal also presented awards from the President of Ukraine—the Orders of Merit and For Courage—to industry workers for their resilience and dedication to their work during the massive russian attacks this winter.
“Thank you to all energy workers for your efforts; it is thanks to you that we weathered this winter,” emphasized the First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
