Denys Shmyhal: We are working on programmes to stimulate the development of a decentralised energy system

The Government is working on the development and implementation of programmes that would stimulate the development of a decentralised energy system to make it less vulnerable to the enemy. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during his working visit to Kharkiv region.

“We are constantly talking to our partners about the supply of alternative energy sources. We are also working on relevant programmes to stimulate the development of a decentralised energy system that will be less vulnerable to enemy attacks,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government got acquainted with the work of one of the energy facilities in Kharkiv. Four cogeneration gas piston units with a total capacity of 6 MW were installed on its territory. This will make it possible to supply heat to the city’s residents in the event of a power outage.

Negotiations are currently underway with partners to install additional gas turbine units.

“I urge other cities to install alternative energy sources to ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical infrastructure facilities,” the Prime Minister said. “The Government will continue to provide support to the regions. In June, we allocated an additional UAH 2.5 billion to Kharkiv region to prepare for the heating season.”

The Prime Minister also visited one of the hospitals in Kharkiv region, where he got acquainted with the work of the institution and talked to the staff about the provision of the necessary equipment. In particular, the institution is fully provided with autonomous water, heat and electricity supply. This allows doctors to work and provide assistance to people without interruption.

The Head of Government stressed that doctors were performing heroic work every day, especially in the frontline regions, working under constant shelling.

Denys Shmyhal presented valuable gifts to the hospital staff.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, this institution has been providing assistance to the severely wounded. They have saved hundreds of lives,” the Prime Minister said. “Thank you for your titanic work. We are proud of our brave medics.”

During a working visit to Kharkiv region, the Head of Government visited Staryi Saltiv, which is constantly suffering from russian attacks. Currently, residential buildings, an outpatient clinic and a lyceum building are being restored.

Denys Shmyhal inspected the reconstruction process and talked to local residents.

According to the Head of Government, the reconstruction is being carried out on the principle of “build back better” – the facade is being insulated, engineering networks are being replaced, and barrier-free standards are being met.

According to Denys Shmyhal, this year alone, the Government has allocated UAH 1.7 billion to eliminate the consequences of russian aggression in Kharkiv region.
