Denys Shmyhal addresses implementation of projects in economy and defense with Finnish entrepreneurs
Today, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal discussed the implementation of projects in the fields of economy, education and defense with representatives of Finnish businesses.
At the BRAVE1 Defense Tech Exhibition, Heads of Government of Ukraine and Finland, Denys Shmyhal and Petteri Orpo, and entrepreneurs toured the exhibits including FPV drones, copters, scout vehicles, robots, maritime drones, and other advanced weapons. The event was also attended by Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Development/Minister of Digital Transformation.
Particular attention was paid to a new development - a Ukrainian turret controlled by artificial intelligence and designed to enhance air defense of the country, providing protection against cruise missiles and drones.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that in the face of constant shelling, this is critical to the security of the state, its economy and communities. He called on Finnish companies to invest in the development of Ukrainian weapons.
"Yesterday, the EU Council approved the SAFE instrument, which provides for the possibility of borrowing up to EUR 150 billion for investments in the defense industry of member states. Under the initiative, the Ukrainian defense industry will have a chance to be involved on an equal footing with the defense industries of the EU member states. And our unique defense cluster Brave1 can become an extremely promising niche for cooperation between companies of the two countries," the Head of Government emphasized.
Another important topic of the Prime Minister's conversation with Finnish entrepreneurs was the involvement in the process of rebuilding the country.
"We want to work closely together to ensure that Finnish investments and the best technological solutions become the basis for the effective reconstruction and development of our country, in particular in the areas of telecommunications, natural resources management, construction and energy," emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
