On February 2, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell in Kyiv. The Head of the Ukrainian Government thanked the European Union for its comprehensive assistance and called for further strengthening of sanctions pressure on russia.

"We call on our European partners to introduce the 10th package of sanctions against russia in the near future and include restrictions against the nuclear industry of the russian federation and the state-owned company rosatom. This will be the right decision in a situation where russian troops have turned Zaporizhzhia NPP into a military base and threaten the security of the whole of Europe," Denys Shmyhal said.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine also thanked the EU and Josep Borrell for increasing the financial ceiling of the European Peace Facility by EUR 2 billion as well as for organizing the training mission for the Ukrainian military in the EU. Ukraine looks forward to expanding such mission.

In addition, Denys Shmyhal and Josep Borrell discussed a new demining program for Ukraine.

"The EU will launch a EUR 25 million humanitarian demining program. This is a crucial component of our recovery, in particular, in the context of returning normal life to the communities de-occupied from russian terrorists," emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
