Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 35,000 km² of territory has been returned to safe use. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a session of the Cabinet of Ministers on 4 April.
He noted that our country was the most mined country in the world and that more than 174,000 km² of territory had been affected by the war.
"The Government has identified humanitarian demining as one of the key priorities for recovery. We do not stop there and expand our capabilities," the Prime Minister stressed.
According to him, 260 demining vehicles are involved in the clearance process, 87 mine action operators are working, and almost 5,500 men and women are liquidating russian mines from our lands.
The Prime Minister emphasised that special attention was being paid to the work with agricultural land.
"More than 1,000 hectares of agricultural land have already been cleared with state funds. This is essential for the sowing season, for the harvest, for Ukrainian exports and our economy. The sowing season has already begun in all regions, with almost 1 million hectares already covered," he added.
