Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Ambassador of Japan Matsuda Kuninori, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government expressed gratitude for Japan's support of UN resolutions in favour of our country, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula, in particular in terms of nuclear safety, and for the signing of the security agreement.
"Japan expresses readiness to invest in our country. We are preparing to sign an investment protection agreement. We are also waiting for the opening of the JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation) office in Ukraine. All these steps will facilitate active cooperation between our businesses," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister noted that Japan provides our country with powerful and invaluable assistance. Especially in the humanitarian sphere. By the end of the year, a third of all demining machines operating in Ukraine will be those manufactured in Japan. In addition, Japan provides significant assistance in the medical sector.
"We are grateful to the Japanese Government for its unwavering support, in particular during the G7 presidency. We hope that the bilateral dialogue between our countries will further develop," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister thanked Japan for supporting the decision of the G7 countries to provide Ukraine with USD 50 billion from the use of frozen russian assets.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government also thanked the Ambassador of Japan for his significant contribution to strengthening the bilateral partnership between the states and presented him with a diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
