The deepening of bilateral cooperation, the pursuing of a policy of reforms and the implementation of joint projects were discussed during an online meeting between Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power.
The Head of Government noted that following the meeting of the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States – Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden – a Joint Statement on the U.S. – Ukraine Strategic Partnership was approved.
"This document captures the positions of the parties on common values and strategic priorities, specific initiatives to support Ukraine's national security and defense, energy security and climate, economic growth, justice and human rights, countering the pandemic and more. We are committed to working closely with the American side in order to put its provisions into practice," said Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Prime Minister, 125 American technical assistance projects with a total contract value of about $3.4 billion are currently being implemented in Ukraine of which 42 technical assistance projects totaling $1.1 billion are being implemented with USAID support.
Denys Shmyhal also personally thanked Samantha Power for her uncompromising statements in support of Ukraine.
For her part, the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development commended the persistence of the Government of Ukraine in implementing important reforms.
