Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Anatoly Zagorodny. The Head of Government stressed the importance of developing the country's scientific potential.
"The State pays special attention to the development of science and research infrastructure, support for young talented Ukrainian scientists because this is the prerequisite for economic growth," stressed Denys Shmyhal.
Anatoly Zagorodny informed the Prime Minister about the process of reforming the National Academy of Sciences. In particular, a Scientific and Technical Council was established to strengthen the production potential in the field of defense-industrial complex.
According to the leader of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, with the support of the Government, housing programs for young scientists are being implemented, and in 2021 funding for research laboratories and groups of young scientists has been significantly increased. This made it possible to announce another competition for grants from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, on the results of which 14 youth laboratories and 56 groups have been funded.
The Prime Minister noted that the support of young scientists should be actively extended to all regions of Ukraine.
