On Wednesday, November 11, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at its regular meeting, heard candidates for the positions of heads of Odesa, Mykolaiv and Sumy regional state administrations (RSA) and approved draft decrees of the President of Ukraine on their appointment.
In his introductory speech, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that in conditions when the regions need fast and effective solutions, the RSA heads are responsible for inefficient and protracted decision-making.
"Regional leaders are not just about managing departments, staff and devising development strategies. Their responsibility is also anti-crisis measures that allow the region to respond effectively to the epidemic situation," the Prime Minister stressed.
During the hearing of reports of the candidates, the Prime Minister named the principal objectives for them.
"There are key priorities of today - it is to provide hospital beds with oxygen and oxygen concentrators. This is number one priority. We ask all heads of regional state administrations to be personally engaged in this question round the clock. The second priority, an extremely urgent and important issue, is the determination and preparation of appropriate premises for the placement of mobile hospitals," emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Prime Minister, this work commenced a long time ago, but now it needs to be wound up, as the situation in some areas requires the deployment of mobile hospitals.
"And the third priority is the development strategy for the southern regions of Ukraine. Irrigation projects are a key task for next year. We have reiterated that this is a huge potential of the southern regions of Ukraine: Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa. Irrigation is a significant economic priority that will give a strong impetus to the development of the southern regions of Ukraine," the Head of Government stressed.
