Denys Shmyhal: We plan to present the draft Reconstruction Plan at the Lugano Reform Conference
Ukraine expects that the Lugano Reform Conference will become a powerful driver and political platform for further steps to rebuild and develop Ukraine, the peaceful future of our country and the stability of the democratic world. This was emphasized by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a press conference with the President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos on May 24.
"Ukraine is determined to recover from the ashes of war better than before. And we are already working on a Plan for Reconstruction and Development, which should make our country a prosperous, economically developed European state, "said the Prime Minister.
Denys Shmyhal that this year's Reform Conference, which will be held in Lugano on July 4-5, was decided to focus on the reconstruction of Ukraine. According to the PM, during the event Ukraine plans to present a draft Recovery Plan.
"The plan will encompass the restoration and development of infrastructure and housing, structural modernization and restart of the economy, implementation of European standards in all areas, measures to combat unemployment, support vulnerable groups, restoration and preservation of cultural heritage. We believe that we will receive support for the project from partners and attract new participants in the reconstruction of Ukraine, "said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister called on the international community to mobilize financial assistance for the implementation of the Plan for Reconstruction and Development of Ukraine, which is crucial for overcoming the consequences of the war and avoiding a large-scale socio-economic crisis. According to him, the architecture of the Restoration Fund has already been shaped in Ukraine.
"It includes United24 as a global project, which should unite people from all over the world to support Ukraine. In particular, to raise funds for the reconstruction of the country. So are the partner funds of leading international institutions, including the IMF administrative account, the World Bank's Multilateral Donor Trust Fund and the European Solidarity Fund with Ukraine, "said Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Government stressed that Ukraine seeks to ensure a high political level of participation in the Recovery Conference to discuss the reconstruction of Ukraine and strengthen our partnership for the victory of democracy.
"We call on countries and companies to engage in the reconstruction of certain regions, cities and industries of Ukraine affected by the war. I am confident that at the Reform Conference all partner countries will form their own packages of proposals,” Denys Shmyhal summed up.
