  • Denys Shmyhal unveiled memorial stele and awarded National Guard officers in Donetsk region

    The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal solemnly unveiled a memorial stele on the territory of military unit 3035 of the Eastern Operational-Territorial Command of the National Guard of Ukraine.

    The celebrations were also attended by the following officials: Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Serhii Bessarab, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov, First Deputy Head of the President's Office Serhii Trofimov, Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration, head of the regional military-civil administration Pavlo Kyrylenko, the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Mykola Balan, the head of the Eastern Territorial Department Oleh Sakhon, the commander of military unit 3035, honored guests.

    During the festive events, the Prime Minister unveiled the stele "Eternal Memory to Heroes!" and laid flowers to it. The memorial stele has an engraving of the names of 89 heroes of military units 3027, 3057 and 3035, who gave their lives for the independence and integrity of Ukraine. The participants of the celebrations observed a minute of silence to commemorate the soldiers who had died for the independence and integrity of Ukraine.

    In his address during the celebrations, Denys Shmyhal reminded that over the six years of the war, 912 militaries of the National Guard of Ukraine had been wounded while defending the territorial integrity of our state, 229 soldiers had died in battles with terrorists. "Their names are forever included in the lists of military units of the National Guard of Ukraine, immortalized in the names of streets and schools, on memorial plates and monuments," the PM said.

    The Head of Government also presented state awards, certificates of appreciation and decorations, the Prime Minister's commendations and other awards to the officers of the National Guard of Ukraine.

    Apart from that, Denys Shmyhal familiarized with the material and technical base and conditions of service in the military unit 3035, with the available equipment and weapons.
