On October 22, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal chaired a meeting on the launch of the Unified Interagency Electronic Platform, which aims to simplify the procedure for admission of foreign students to Ukrainian higher educational institutions. The meeting was attended by officials from various ministries and agencies, including representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior.
The Head of Government stressed that the establishment of a transparent and clear mechanism for the entry of foreign citizens is an important chain in the process of reforming the higher education system.
"International students must have equal and transparent conditions for admission to Ukrainian higher educational institutions without any corruption components. The creation of an electronic platform for foreign students should modernize the system of admission towards improving accessibility and comfort for both universities and institutes, as well as for applicants. This is a continuation of the policy of the Ukrainian Government in the field of digitalization," noted the Prime Minister.
Denys Shmyhal instructed the ministries to speed up the work on creating a single interdepartmental electronic platform for foreign students in order to eliminate any manifestations of corruption in this area as soon as possible.
"The rules of admission for foreigners, which are clear to all participants in the process, are also about creating a positive image of our country. This step will help promote higher education in Ukraine," emphasized the Prime Minister.
In addition, the Head of Government instructed the Ministry of Education and Science, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Digital Transformation, to develop electronic invitations to study, which will help prevent abuse in this area.
