The Cabinet of Ministers during its regular meeting on August 4 approved the Energy Security Strategy. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the document contains an analysis of threats with determining their criticality and identifies priorities for energy security.
"It also describes the strategic choice, goals and objectives aimed at preventing situations that could potentially pose a threat to Ukraine's energy security," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Government also approved a decision to transfer state-owned CHP plants to manage from the State Property Fund to NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine. The Prime Minister noted that this will make it possible to take measures to ensure that the relevant CHP plants are provided with everything necessary before the start of the heating season.
"I would like to appeal to local leaders on the territory of which these CHP plants are located: if you have confidence and proven resources that you can better manage these enterprises, then you have the opportunity to appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers. We are ready to consider transferring the relevant facilities to you. The Government is responsible for decentralization, and we have repeatedly proved that we are ready to transfer authority and resources to the regions," stressed Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Government emphasized that the proper management of district heating companies by local leaders is a matter not only of energy security but also of social support for citizens who will receive lower utility bills.
