    To make Ukraine a country of happy children who can be neither left behind nor abandoned. And this slogan must become a national idea. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said in the process of a discussion of two social initiatives No Child Left Behind and Responsible Parenthood.

    The initiatives were launched a year ago, and during this time, the alimony amounting UAH 7.8 million has been recovered as support for one million children who are raised in incomplete families. About 170,000 irresponsible parents because of debts on child support are deprived of the right to travel abroad, to drive a car, to use a weapon, to hunt. 44,000 parents are engaged in the performing of socially useful activities - money for the work fulfilled is transferred for the children support. About 56,000 debtors were subjected to the imposition of fines.

    Speaking about the history of his family, the Head of Government said that he had started a family at the age of 19 and devoted much of his activities on the path of life to the development of childhood. While holding various positions, the PM initiated the start of various programs aimed at the development of childhood and support for parenthood.

    "For me, it's vital to make Ukraine a place where happy children are born and raised. And so, we have to have happy families", said Volodymyr Groysman. "Ukraine should become a country of happy children - this should become our national idea."

    Background

    Over the past three years, the Ukrainian Government has launched simultaneously several programs aimed at the development of childhood and responsible parenthood, which already yield results. Apart from the programs to reduce the queue for admission to kindergartens, as well as the introduction of the New Ukrainian School, there are programs for the development of inclusive education, children's and youth sports, etc.

    At present, 1,400,000 families receive Government assistance - including multi-children families, 233,000 newborns received a Baby Box - a state gift that contains a set of 40 most essential items at birth. The Municipal Nanny and E-Malyatko programs were launched - a set of electronic services to help parents on a one-time appeal. For the first time in many years, the program for the purchase of housing for orphans (1297 apartments) and family-type orphanages (124 houses) has been implemented. This year for these purposes there have been allocated UAH 717.7 million.
