Minister of Internal Affairs: Ukraine and U.S. will cooperate in fight against international drug trafficking
Ukraine and the United States will cooperate in the fight against international drug trafficking. This issue was discussed during a meeting between Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov and Acting Administrator for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the U.S. Department of Justice Robert W. Patterson.
"Cooperation with foreign law enforcement agencies, in particular, on counteracting drug crimes, is of utmost importance for us. At present, criminal groups operate not only within the borders of one country. They actively use innovative technologies, digital payment platforms and virtual crypto currency. In order to collect electronic evidence, it is necessary to organize interaction between bodies, including at the international level," the Minister stressed.
Arsen Avakov informed that the parties agreed on a Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Police of Ukraine and the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States Department of Justice.
"Today we are on the final stage of the preparation of the Memorandum of Cooperation and we count on fruitful cooperation. Apart from that, our police officers will be trained at DEA, and the Administration decided to direct its expert to Ukraine for permanent work and counseling ", the Minister added.
