During the working visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States of America at the invitation of the U.S. President Joseph Biden, an Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America on research, development, testing and evaluation projects was signed. On behalf of the two states, the document was signed by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Andrii Taran and the U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
The signing of this Agreement is the result of a fundamental deepening of cooperation between the two countries in scientific, technical and military-technical areas. It provides a bilateral legal framework for contracts for the implementation of joint research and development in the field of defence.
Conditions are being created for the introduction of advanced defence technologies, the launch of projects in the field of modernization of armaments and military equipment with the involvement of investments from the American side.
Additionally, the provisions of the Agreement allow for the implementation of measures to conduct testing of armaments and military equipment, research, verification of results and evaluation of their effectiveness using equipment and technologies not currently available in Ukraine. Ukrainian research institutions will be able to get involved in the implementation of projects of the American side.
It is also planned to promote the NATO-compatible products and services of both countries in the third countries markets.
