Today, April 20, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Taran met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States in Ukraine Kristina Kvien.
The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration Anatolii Petrenko and Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Myronyuk.
Andrii Taran informed the American side about the development of the security situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and around the borders of our state. The Minister of Defense expressed gratitude for the leading and consolidating role of the United States in counteracting by the international community's aggressive policy of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine.
"Once again, we draw attention to the unwillingness of the Russian Federation to implement previously reached agreements and adhere to the path of peaceful settlement of the conflict. It is important for us to feel that the international community is consolidated and unanimous in supporting Ukraine. We are grateful to the United States for the leading role in this process," Andrii Taran stressed.
For her part, Chargé d'Affaires Kristina Kvien stressed the invariability of Washington's policy to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the non-recognition of the occupation of Crimea.
The main issues of defense cooperation and support by the United States for capacity building of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as well as the implementation of defense reform according to NATO standards were among the topics for discussion.
The parties agreed to prolong joint work on the development of bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in the field of security and defense.
