  • Andrii Sybiha discussed the Peace Formula and Freedom of Navigation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman

    During his visit to the Sultanate of Oman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi.

    Foreign Minister of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Oman for supporting sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and assured that the Ukrainian side appreciates the voice of the Sultanate and is determined to expand cooperation.

    Ministers confirmed mutual desire to bring bilateral relations to a new level.

    Foreign Ministers discussed the idea of creating a food hub for Ukrainian products in the Sultanate and their further exports to the East African countries and other regions.

    Andrii Sybiha informed his Omani counterpart about the situation on the battlefield, Russian shelling of Ukrainian cities and communities, strikes on port infrastructure and civilian ships, in particular, damage caused over the previous month to vessels with food supplies for Egypt, Italy and humanitarian cargo of the UN Food Programme for Palestine.

    The Minister urged Oman to support Ukraine's position on the need to guarantee freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and invited the Omani side to take part in the third Food Summit in Kyiv this year.

    Foreign Minister of Ukraine informed about the Russian attacks on the energy system and the danger of Russian strikes on the nuclear energy facilities of Ukraine. He called on Oman to support efforts to prevent such a scenario. The Minister also outlined Ukraine's priority needs in strengthening energy stability on the eve of winter.

    During the negotiations, Andrii Sybiha paid special attention to the Peace Formula as the only way towards a comprehensive, just and lasting peace. He emphasized the steadfastness of the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine” and invited the Sultanate of Oman to participate in the Second Peace Summit.

    The heads of Ukrainian and Omani diplomacy expressed mutual willingness for the development of the bilateral legal basis, in particular, preparation for the conclusion of an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation. Ministers also reaffirmed their readiness to launch Joint Intergovernmental Commission for strengthening trade relations.

    Parties additionally discussed the expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Andrii Sybiha proposed that the National Museum of Oman join the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska for launching Ukrainian-language audio guides in the most prominent places in the world.

    Andrii Sybiha called on the Omani side to facilitate the protection of legitimate rights and interests of the Ukrainian community in Oman.
