Farmers complete sowing of spring cereals and legumes

Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, posted 06 June 2025 12:45

As of 6 June 2025, farmers across all regions of Ukraine have sown 5.6 million hectares of spring cereals and legumes, effectively completing the spring sowing campaign.

The leading regions in terms of sowing pace are Poltava, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Sumy regions.

The 5.6 million hectares of spring cereals and legumes match the level of 2024.

A notable feature of this year’s season is the increase in the area sown with spring wheat, which currently stands at nearly 220,000 hectares. This is driven by demand from processing enterprises and exporters. Additionally, 7.7 million hectares of industrial crops have been sown, with sunflower dominating at 4.9 million hectares and soybean at 2.3 million hectares.

The structure of sown areas across all categories of farms in Ukraine’s controlled territories in 2025 does not significantly differ from the previous year, and the indicated areas are sufficient to ensure domestic food security and create export potential.
