On August 7, at a meeting of the State Commission for Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies, the issue of amending Resolution № 641 in terms of expansion and changes to the list of criteria for determining the level of the epidemic danger was considered. Appropriate changes are needed to respond fully and in a timely manner to challenges.
Commenting on the decision of the State Commission, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the rapid deterioration of the epidemic situation in Ukraine requires coordinated action by the authorities at all levels.
"Today in Ukraine another anti-record has been set for the number of new cases of confirmed COVID-19 infection - 1,453 people. Most new cases recorded - in Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv and Kharkiv regions. Therefore, starting tomorrow, the Government will switch to an emergency mode of operation: several meetings a week will be held of Commissions on environmental and technogenic safety and emergencies to strengthen control over the epidemic situation in the country," said the Prime Minister.
In addition, tomorrow, August 8, it is planned to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which is scheduled to consider the deterioration of the epidemic situation in different regions of the country. In particular, the issue of the epidemic situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea, where the real incidence of COVID-19 may be underestimated.
