    Background

Russian gas giant Gazprom, following the ruling of the Stockholm arbitration court to pay over $ 4 billion in favor of Ukraine under the contracts of 2009, has lowered entry pressure in Ukrainian gas transport, thereby causing a deficit of gas in Ukraine. According to the Head of Government, such actions could be considered as an attempt to blackmail against Europe and Ukraine.
