The current situation that emerged due to lowering the pressure in the gas transport system and deficit in gas supply following the illegal actions of the Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom is fully controlled and does not pose threats. From tomorrow Ukraine will receive gas from Europe. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.
"I just held a meeting with technical experts, had a conversation with European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union. The situation is controlled. There will be no negative phenomena. But we must remember that the aggressor country will always find variations to harm Ukraine. However, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine should have been more prudent as to energy issues and should have created reserves of gas in advance," the Head Government accentuated.
The Prime Minister stressed the situation will be fully stabilized by Tuesday-Wednesday. "Tomorrow, according to Naftogaz contracts, European gas will be delivered to Ukraine. It will balance the work of the system, " he emphasized.
Volodymyr Groysman emphasized the Action plan, which was put into effect by the decision of the Energy Headquarters stipulates for clear actions of all authorities in similar situations." The Ministry of Education and Science issued an order to cancel classes till Wednesday. Local authorities decide on how to balance gas consumption," he noted.
He stressed that Ukraine was and remains a reliable gas supplier to Europe. "At present, an issue of energy independence is becoming more relevant. In 2020 we will have to provide municipal heat supply system with our own gas," Volodymyr Groysman accentuated.
Russian gas giant Gazprom, following the ruling of the Stockholm arbitration court to pay over $ 4 billion in favor of Ukraine under the contracts of 2009, has lowered entry pressure in Ukrainian gas transport, thereby causing a deficit of gas in Ukraine. According to the Head of Government, such actions could be considered as an attempt to blackmail against Europe and Ukraine.
