Prime Minister: Gazprom has resorted to blackmail against Ukraine and Europe
Russian gas
monopoly Gazprom, following the ruling of the Stockholm arbitration court to pay
over $ 4 billion in favor of Ukraine under the contracts of 2009, has failed to
maintain contractual pressure in the Russian gas transmission system and, thus,
resorted to blackmail against Ukraine and Europe. But Ukraine is capable to face
the challenges, announced Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman.
"Gazprom has
resorted to blackmail against Europe and Ukraine, lowering the pressure in the
gas transport system. This
causes certain technical difficulties. But
there is nothing that we can’t handle," stressed Volodymyr
Groysman.
He emphasized that NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, as a key element of Ukraine's energy system, should always remember "who to deal with" and do everything in order to avoid failures and find options for fuel supply.
