MIP Presents National Communication Campaign on Occasion of the Day of Crimea’s Resistance to Russian Occupation

On 20 February 2018, MIP’s national communication campaign dedicated to the Day of Crimea’s Resistance to Russian Occupation was presented at the news agency Ukrinform. The campaign was presented by officials from the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, human rights organizations and NGOs.

Emine Dzhaparova, the First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, noted: “We have now worked out the Strategy of Information Reintegration of Crimea. MIP is already implementing the Strategy through the Action Plan, and marking the fourth anniversary of Crimea’s resistance to Russian occupation is part of this Strategy,” she added.

Eskender Beriev, the Head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, noted that “we are facing a formidable task – reconsidering the tragic events in Crimea. It is important that the topic of Crimea’s occupation be comprehensible for international communities.” “In order to resolve the issue of human rights abuse, first and foremost, it is necessary to talk about de-occupation of Crimea,” he added.

It should be noted that as part of the communication campaign (9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) the Fourth International Forum ‘The Occupied Peninsula: Four Years of Resistance’ will be held. In addition, a film about political prisoners will be presented in the course of the Forum (4:30 – 5:30 p.m.). The windows of the news agency Ukrinform are featuring a photo exhibition dedicated to the Day of Crimea’s Resistance to Russian Occupation from February 19th to March 17th. Also, a TV marathon will be held on Channel 5 on February 26th.
