Cabinet of Ministers created Intellectual Property Council
On February 7, the
Government upon the initiative of the Ministry
of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine
adopted a decision on the creation
of the Intellectual Property Council (IPC), which will coordinate
processes on the functioning and development of the legal
protection system of intellectual property in Ukraine.
The Council will
function as an interim consultative
body under the Cabinet of
Ministers. The IPC will be headed
by Stepan Kubiv, First Vice
Prime Minister/ Minister of Economic
Development and Trade of Ukraine.
The main tasks
enshrined in the regulations on the work
of the Council
are the following:
- coordination of
the interaction of executive authorities
in the field
of intellectual property;
- definition of
ways and mechanisms for solving problem issues that arise
during the formation and implementation
of state policy in the
field of intellectual property;
- development of proposals in the field of
intellectual property, in particular regarding
the development of this sphere,
ensuring Ukraine's integration into international and European intellectual space taking into
account national interests, development and reform of
the state system of legal
protection of intellectual property, etc.
The council will
include 30 people, in particular the
leadership of central executive authorities, law enforcement agencies, representatives of legislative and judicial authorities, heads of enterprises
and public organizations.
