On January 27-29, 2018, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan visited the State of Qatar.

During the visit, Volodymyr Omelyan had a meeting with the Minister of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar Jassim Al Sulayli.

The two officials discussed aspects of cooperation between Ukraine and Qatar in the field of aviation, maritime transport, ports and railroads as well as investment opportunities in the field of transport.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan highlighted the successful establishment of a direct aviation connection between Ukraine and the State of Qatar due to Qatar Airways which has recently entered Ukrainian market. «We see that tickets for flights both to Doha and in the opposite direction are entirely booked. We may say that the Ukrainian-Qatar cooperation in the field of aviation is successful. Qatar Airways which is a world leading airline company already works in Ukraine, and I hope its network in Ukraine will be expanded. There are prospects for this.»

The official itinerary of the Minister also included visits to the new seaport «Hamad Port» and the Hamad international airport. During these visits transport infrastructure, organisation of the work and functioning of main transport services were presented.
