With the support of German partners, Ukraine implements a key EU Energy Efficiency Directive. Serhii Savchuk, Head of State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, stressed during in his statement at the coordination seminar on the implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU.
Effective ways to
execute this Directive have been developed by the representatives of the
Ministry of Regional Development, Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, Ministry
of Defense, State Agency for Energy Efficiency together with experts of the GIZ
projects on reforms in energy efficiency sector in Ukraine.
Serhii Savchuk noted the importance of fulfilling international obligations assumed by Ukraine on implementation of the European law in this area.
"Pursuant to
Directive 2012/27/EU, the bill On Energy Efficiency, designed to lay the
foundations for state policy in the sector of efficient use of fuel and energy
resources and to identify the main instruments for achieving national goals in
this area, has been drafted", said Serhii Savchuk.
The specified bill passes a procedure of consideration by interested central executive authorities.
In addition,
representatives of ministries and departments, together with GIZ specialists,
discussed practical aspects of the implementation of Articles 5 and 8 of the
Directive 2012/27/EU, in particular, to ensure the achievement of the goal of
annual thermo-modernization of 1% of buildings of state authorities, the
creation of a register of such facilities, establishing of organizational and legal
conditions for implementation of energy audit and introduction of energy
management, etc.
