In January-December 2017, 8.2 million households applied for compensation of housing and communal costs, herewith the overwhelming majority of applicants are single citizens or families of two people. Figures released by the State Statistics Service indicate the said fact.

It is noteworthy that in December, when the heating season was kicked off, 6.9 million households received subsidies, of which 37.5% were single people, 28.2% were families of two people, mostly retirees. The average size of the subsidy per household in December made up UAH  993.4.

Thus, government assistance in the form of subsidies for the reimbursement of costs for the payment of housing and communal services is in great demand among elderly people and single residents, who were and remain in the priority of the state social protection system.
