
Ukraine joins Declaration on Trade and Women's Economic Empowerment
On December 12, in
the framework of the 11th Ministerial
Conference of the World Trade
Organization (WTO) in Buenos Aires Deputy
Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Trade
Representative of Ukraine Natalia Mykolska took part
in the signing
ceremony of the Joint Declaration
on Trade and Women’s Economic
Empowerment.
Inclusive trade policies
can contribute to advancing gender
equality and women’s economic empowerment, which has a positive impact on economic
growth and helps to reduce
poverty. Support for this initiative
was also emphasized in the
Ukrainian address at the opening
ceremony of WTO.
More than 100 participating
countries, including Ukraine, have agreed
to work together
to make the
country's trade policy more responsive
to gender issues.
The Ministry of
Economic Development and Trade of
Ukraine promotes the development of women's entrepreneurship
in Ukraine, to this end
the #SheExports Platform has been
created at the Export Promotion
Office. An ambitious goal of the
platform is to advance the
economic empowerment of women in
Ukraine and to promote Ukrainian
women in business, women entrepreneurs and women exporters.
