The core function of the state supervision system in various spheres from fire to food safety is to ensure the security of people, rather than to write out a fine or put pressure on business, claimed Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.

The Head of Government underlined that 2018 should become a year of changing the supervisory system precisely in view of the achievement of the stated goal. "Next year we will pay a lot of attention to this issue. As for the safety of food products, fire safety, of course, here it is vitally important to carry out inspections. However these measures should be non-punitive, but preventive. We need to ensure that a fire safety in the building is properly functioning as well as the product we are buying is safe. This is the goal, not bullying of business. Such system will be changed", Volodymyr Groysman emphasized.

    Background

In November, Prime Minister of Ukraine during the meeting with entrepreneurs initiated changes to the system of state supervision and control, as well as the transition to risk-oriented methods of work, namely, the conduct of inspections of enterprises solely on the basis of clear criteria for determining riskiness. He stressed that the country instead of creating artificial barriers for business should switch to a risk-oriented approach in the supervisory system.
