In Berlin,
the representatives of the Verification Directorate of the General Staff of the
Armed Forces of Ukraine held two-day meeting with German colleagues and
discussed bilateral cooperation issues and enhancement of existing mechanisms
of arms and military activities control in Europe.
“In Berlin,
we discussed development of bilateral cooperation within international
agreements and treaties on conventional arms control, as well as issues of
their implementation in the context of the ongoing conflict in east of
Ukraine”, the Ukrainian verifiers inform.
According
to the Ukrainian party, the verifiers of the two countries also focused on
discussion of problems related to suspension of Russian Federation participation
in the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Ukraine, Russian refusal to
provide information on conventional arms to European partners.
“These
actions unbalanced the system of European security. Considering the
abovementioned, it is important to improve existing mechanisms of countering
challenges related to engagement of conventional arms, formation of new tools
of armament and military activities in Europe”, Directorate of the General
Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
