Hennadii Zubko: Opening of the JICA office is a new stage in the development of infrastructure projects in Ukraine
Today, Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has opened its office in Ukraine. There
has already been appointed head of the office, a number of important projects
are being implemented in such areas as the development of southern part of
Ukraine, port and road infrastructure, bridges construction, and household
waste management, in particular, the project for the reconstruction of Bortnychi aeration station with the loan being the largest in
the utilities sector in Eastern
Europe
and having unique financial conditions.

Minister/Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal
Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko
made a statement during the ceremony of opening of the JICA office in Ukraine.
"The inauguration
of the JICA office in Ukraine is a significant political step and another
economic stage in the relations between our countries. For Ukraine both political
support for the territorial integrity of the country and economic assistance
for infrastructure development are equally important. We have embarked on discussion
a possibility of introducing large-scale infrastructure innovation projects in
Kyiv, Dnipro and Kharkiv",
said Hennadii Zubko.
According to him,
back in 1947 Japan introduced a decentralization reform, providing
opportunities for the development of regions in the country, which is a useful
expertise for Ukraine. "Therefore, for us, the
experience of Japan is valuable. Local
budgets amounting to 200 billion hryvnias will
accelerate the implementation of infrastructure and high-tech projects in
Ukraine," said Hennadii Zubko.
He expressed gratitude to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Shigeki Sumy for the cooperation with the Government of Ukraine. "It is really promising to invest in Ukraine today. It can generate benefit both for the state and our international partners expressing readiness to cooperate with us", summed up Hennadii Zubko.
