The issues pertaining
to cooperation in renewable energy
sector were discussed during the plenary meeting
held at the
Ministry of Commerce of the
People's Republic of China in
Beijing.
The Ukrainian delegation
led by Deputy
Minister of Economic Development and Trade/ Trade
Representative of Ukraine Natalia Mykolska also included
representatives of the Ministry of
Agrarian Policy and Food of
Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry
of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine,
the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the
State Agency for Energy Efficiency
and Energy Saving, the State Finance
Institution for Innovations and the Embassy of
Ukraine to the People's Republic
of China.
In the course
of the meeting
Serhii Savchuk, Head of the
State Agency for Energy Efficiency
and Energy Saving, outlined promising sectors of bilateral cooperation
in the "green" energy sector.
It should be
noted that China is the
world leader in renewable energy
capacity expansion. It influences the
global trends of the clean
energy development. Thus, according to the International
Energy Agency, since 2010, the cost of solar
and wind energy has decreased
by 70% and 25% respectively. This boosted the installation
of solar and wind stations
in other countries, including Ukraine. Hence, this is the
prerequisite for opening a large domestic market for renewable energy
projects.
On the outcomes
of the meeting
the parties confirmed their intentions to continue
cooperation, including in the field
of "clean" energy.
