  • Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry kicked off work on the introduction of Smart Grid in Ukraine

    Within the framework of cooperation with the World Bank, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine has involved two experts in the development of Smart Grid. The main mission of the said experts is to assist the Ministry in drafting the Smart Grid Implementation Concept in Ukraine up to 2035 and the mid-term Smart Grid Implementation Plan in Ukraine.

    While opening the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine on European Integration Natalia Boyko stressed Ukraine's interest in studying European Smart Grid implementation experience. Moreover, she announced that during the International Forum "Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine: Present and Future" this issue is to be discussed in detail as well as during the round table "The Smart Grid Concept" and the Need for Implementation of Smart Grid Technologies Elements under the conditions of the Reform of the Electricity Market" which will be held on 8 November.

    In the course of the meeting, representatives of the SE "NPC" Ukrenergo "and energy supply companies emphasized the importance of introducing an integrated approach in the process of the implementation of the Smart Grid. The issues of installation of "smart" meters, creation of necessary databases and ensuring effective communication with consumers were also touched upon.
