  • Vice Prime Minister: Government does its utmost to ensure that athletes have the opportunity to show the best results at the 2018 Winter Olympics

    Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kyrylenko held a meeting of the Organizing Committee on the preparation and participation of athletes in the Olympic, Paralympic and Decathlon Games, the World Games in the field of non-Olympic sports, world-wide martial arts games, World Universities, World and European Championships. The attendees of the meeting were Ihor Zhdanov, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Serhii Bubka, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and Oksana Skugareva, Vice-President of the National Sports Committee for the Disabled of Ukraine, Paralympic Committee who briefed on preparations for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics in PyeongChang (South Korea).

    The Vice Prime Minister stressed that despite the military aggression of the Russian Federation and significant financing of our country's defense, the Government is engaged in activities aimed to increase expenditures on sports and toattract additional sources. In particular, changes can be witnessed in increased salaries of the trainers of the youth athletic centers and bonus payments for high sport achievements.

    Vyacheslav Kyrylenko underlined the issue of broadcasting the Winter Olympics from PyeongChang, which will be conducted by the national television channel in Ukraine (UA:First ) is to be resolved and millions of fans will be able to watch the Olympic Games.
