All sectors of
Ukrainian medicine need to be
reformed, in particular the medical market. The Ministry of
Healthcare of Ukraine in synergy
with the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and international experts is shaping a detailed
plan for drug registration changes. The goal
is to update
the existing procedure that is imperfect in
comparison with world practices.
On October 27, the
Ministry of Healthcare hosted regular meeting with representatives of the EBRD and
international experts on the future
reform of the drug registration
system in Ukraine. During the meeting, cooperation
was discussed regarding the development
of the concept,
which should not only improve
the order of registration of drugs, but
also provide concrete steps for the gradual
retrofitting of the entire pharmaceutical
regulatory system through its profound
transformation.
In the course
of the meeting
the previous recommendations of the consortium of international experts, who in
detail examined the situation of
the pharmaceutical market in Ukraine
and presented their proposals for its settlement
in line international
standards were also discussed.
«The health
care reform that our team
is currently putting into place
in Ukraine is a profound and
fundamental transformation of the whole
system. Such a system existed in Poland back
in 1989. In 26 years, Poland has
done a lot to reach the
level of health care that
Ukrainians are as eager to
do. And now
we have to
go through the same way
that every free and progressive
country has already gone through.
We are committed
to making everything possible for the Ukrainians
to receive a decent system of
medicine», underscored Ulana Suprun, Acting Minister of Healthcare
of Ukraine.
